The Impact of Alcohol Consumption on Gross and Fine Motor Skills of Individuals
Purchartová, Dana ; Pavlů, Dagmar (advisor) ; Reckziegelová, Petra (referee)
Title: The Impact of Alcohol Consumption on Gross and Fine Motor Skills of Individuals Objectives of the thesis: The main objective of my thesis is to assess an immediate effect of alcohol on selected tasks from the area of fine and gross motor skills. First identified were the average values for selected tests in sober individuals, and then the values with an increasing level of alcohol in blood. The second objective is to differentiate whether or not are fine and gross motor skills affected upon the same alcohol level in blood. Methods: The required data were obtained on the basis of experimental measurements on 12 probands (6 women and 6 men) who were tested for fine motor skills using three non- standardized tests modified or created for the purpose of this experiment: threading beads on a string, unlocking locks and dropping coins to a moneybox. Gross motor skills were tested using stabilometric platform in a standing position with legs together and with open eyes for 30 seconds. The observed parameter in the fine motor skills test was the time, while in the stability test it was the track of COP; each fine motor skills test was performed three times in each round. In the second and in each subsequent round every proband was administered 0.3 g of alcohol per kg of weight. The total number of...
Assessment of motor skills and functional abilities in children with CP by correlation of Locomotor stages according to Vojta and the PEDI and TCMS tests.
Halámka, Jiří ; Šafářová, Marcela (advisor) ; Smetanová, Jana (referee)
The study evaluates the level of gross motor skills in pediatric patients with cerebral palsy (CP) using Vojta's Locomotor Stages, postural stability during sitting, and its influence on independence and mobility. The theoretical part of the study provides an overview of cerebral palsy, its classification, and diagnosis. It describes the utilization of current standardized scales employed in this diagnosis, specifically for assessing posture and postural stability while sitting. Furthermore, it summarizes knowledge about the functional abilities of children with CP (self-care, mobility, and social functions) in relation to psychomotor development. The primary objective was to determine the impact of gross motor skill levels on a child's trunk stability and to establish correlations between trunk stability and the independence and mobility of pediatric patients with cerebral palsy. Methodology: In the Practical part, we examined 25 pediatric patients with cerebral palsy using the Trunk Control Measurement Scale (TCMS), which is used to evaluate sitting stability in static and dynamic skills. Additionally, we queried the patients' parents using the standardized Pediatric Evaluation of Disability Inventory (PEDI) questionnaire, which is used to assess children's functional abilities in the areas of...
Use of ergotherapy for Down's syndrome in preschool age
Šustová, Kateřina ; Valešová Malecová, Barbara (advisor) ; Šumníková, Pavlína (referee)
The diploma thesis Use of ergotherapy fro Down's syndrome in preschool age deals with the use of ergotherapy as a tool for the development of fine and gross motor skills in children with Down syndrome in preschool age. The work consists of two parts. The theoretical part defines the issue of Down syndrome, then describes the specifics of the development of a child with an intellectual disability in preschool age, with a focus on the development of fine and gross motor skills, and the last part summarizes the current knowledge about ergotherapy and its use in children with Down syndrome in preschool age. The second part describes the design of an occupational therapy program focused on the development of fine and gross motor skills in children with Down syndrome and then verifies its applicability in practice through action research. Three children wit Down syndrome aged of four to five were involved in the usability testing and their progress in individual fine and gross motor skills was compared. The results of the research show that the proposed program is usable in practice and at the same time give suggestions for its modifications for further use.
Motor skills in a preschool child with impaired communication ability
MIČKOVÁ, Markéta
The topic of the bachelor's thesis is motor skills and graphomotor skills in a preschool child with impaired communication ability. The aim of the bachelor's thesis is the training and practice of gross motor skills, oromotor skills and graphomotor skills in preschool children with impaired communication skills aged five to six years who attend a speech therapy class established at a regular kindergarten. Another goal was to develop a methodological program. One of the partial goals was to observe and shoot a selected research sample during activities developing motor skills. The theoretical part deals with the topic of impaired communication skills in preschool children, the possibility of requesting a postponement of compulsory school attendance and also selected cognitive functions affecting motor activities. The main part of the theoretical work consists of the chapter on motor skills, which includes motor skills, gross motor skills and coordination of movement, graphomotor skills, oromotor skills and also fine motor skills. The content of the next part consists of laterality and speech therapy in the Czech Republic. In the practical part, the method of observation was applied, mainly due to video recording and also the method of individual approach and interview. The methodical program for the development of motor skills contains methodical procedures of exercises, elements from the field of oromotor skills and graphomotor sheets. All these materials were applied for one month and evaluated according to selected or elected evaluation scales. The results are successful, as all children from the selected research sample improved in all stimulated areas.
Assessment of the level of gross motor skills of children aged 11 to 12 with the MABC-2 test battery at a selected primary school
HAVLÍČEK, Martin
The aim of the graduation thesis was to test level of gross motor skills of children aged 11 to 12 at selected primary school. Theory of the thesis was made by the literature research. We tested 45 children in age 11 and 12 by the test battery MABC-2 in research. Testing was completed in area of primary school Dacice Bozeny Nemcove after informed agreement of children's legal representative. Characteristics of the group was realized by the survey. We found out that girls reached better results than boys due to experiment in component balance by 0,7 percentile and in component aiming & catching by 6,2 percentile. Results showed better performance of sports active children by 8,8 percentile in component balance and 13,1 percentile in component aiming & catching. No pupil belonged to second or third zone of motoric difficulties in motor components with possibility of motor difficulties or significant motor difficulties with recommendation for specialized examination. We can overall consider the very good level of gross motor skills of measured children during the test thanks to percentile equivalent.
Evaluation of the motor activity of older school-age children by the MABC-2 test battery at a selected elementary school
ŽÁNOVÁ, Marie
The aim of this graduation thesis is to find out the level of fine and gross motoric skills amongst children of older school age in a selected elementary school. The theoretical part of the thesis was based on the literature review. In June 2021 we tested 10 girls ages 11-12 years. The level of their motor skills was measured by a standardized Movement Assessment Battery for Children - Second Edition, which includes 8 motor tests suitable for both genders. The testing was completed in the gym of Pohůrecká primary school in České Budějovice after informed consent of children's legal representative. A survey was carried out to characterize the sample. Based on the experiment, it was found that the best results were obtained in the aiming & catching (62,1th percentile). The next one was the balance task (41,7 percentiles) fallowed by the manual dextery (40,2 percentile). One girl was diagnosed with the 3rd band motor skills and ske got the receommendition for a specialist. The overall level of gross motor skills of tested children is slighty above average.
2-3 children´s years old development of motoric skills
MAŠKOVÁ, Nikola
The bachelor thesis is based on the current need to support children´s motor skills, thein interest in getting aktive and providing these activities for two or free year old children at nursery schools. The aim of the thesis is to create a set of motivated motor skills activities and prove thein suitability and attractiveness for children. The theoretical part describes gross motor skills, fine motor skills and graphomotor skills of children between two and three years of age. The conditions for these activities, methods and form of their realization at nursery school are also depicted in the theoretical part. The practical part contains the set of activities achieved by structural observation in practise.
Use the MABC - 2 test battery to measure the level of motor in Men's Artistic Gymnastics
SLANINA, Ondřej
The bacherol thesis is focused on the testing and evaluation in motoric skills of sports gymnasts (n=14) aged between 8 to 13 years in gymnastic center Merkur České Budějovice. For this experiment was used the methody called "MABC-2 formula" (Movement Assessment Battery for Children 2nd edition), it consists of eight test items that are divided into three components. Individual components focus on testing fine motor skills (manual skill), gross motor skills (aiming and catching) and balance. After performing the MABC-2 test and obtaining gross scores for each item, we created tables and graphs of component and total test scores (TTS). The results we compared to the standardization norms this test battery. Based on this comparison, we evaluated the level of motoric skills of a observed group of sports gymnasts.
